Chris have you been out fishing since the temps have started dropping down? Just was wondering if they was on the fall pattern yet. I am trying to get out this week or hopefully next week to check them out. I don't have any fish left in the freezer after the fish fry earlier this month. EB

Yea I have been EB, when I can. The crappie are moving into the shallows, but its hit or miss. Some lakes they have moved in, others they are still holding in the deeper water. Water clarity might be playing a role as well. Wehrspann has been pretty good so far in the morning and evening. But the clarity is pretty bad, only a few inches. Walnut Creek is getting that way too when it comes to clarity, turning pretty green. But the crappie are not biting there yet.

A friend of mine has been going to Wehrspann in the mornings and doing pretty good but on little ones. They are big enough to keep I guess. EB

yea, 6 and 8 inchers. I've heard "dock talk" that larger ones have been caught in the evenings, close to closing time. I don't think I'm gonna put much weight into that as that would mean they are biting well after 8 - 9pm. and most of those guys at that time are looking for catfish, not crappie. But I've heard the water is in the mid to upper 60's. Probably closer to that 70 mark since it has been rather sunny and warm.

Also found out the price of minnows went up at that gas station on 84th. $4.50. nah, I'll take my minnows from Cabelas from now on, $2.00 cheaper.

Cubby's will be taken out when the new intersection is completed next year. I am talking to the guy that owns KB's at the intersection of Washington and Lincoln Street about getting set up to sell minnows. He is selling night crawlers now. EB

I miss the days when worms used to be 75 cents and minnows were a $1.
