Fishing 7-30-14
Went fishing down at Beaver Lake yesterday and didn't do too bad. We brought 26 fish home with 5 nice Crappie and 5 Yellow Perch. The Perch were around 11 inches and the Crappie was 14 for the biggest and the rest were around 11 inches. We had a bunch of Bluegills and a few Drum. We caught some Walleye and Largemouth Bass but weren't big enough to keep. We caught fish all day but had a hard time finding the one's that was big enough to keep. We had the best luck in 15 ft of water in the morning and in the afternoon they moved into the docks in around 10-12 ft. We used mostly minnows and I tried a few jigs but they didn't want a jig. I watched several take the jig in and blow it out right away before I could set the hook. We used 7 dozen minnows and had great time. We was fairly busy catching the whole day. EB

sounds like a nice day of fishing - Beaver Lake is not open to the public is it?? I hear lots of good fishing stories from that lake and would love to give it a try, well if and when I get a bigger boat then my little pond hopper. The guy I bought the trailer for my boat from lived on Beaver Lake - went out to his place to pick it up and he told me of all the fish they catch.

It is normally a very good lake but this year we are having a hard time finding the Crappie. They aren't on the brush piles this year and the ones that I have been getting have come from trolling in open water. EB

We went fishing again today and did the same as on Wed and today we got a Walleye and Bass to go into the pot for our fish fry. EB
