I agree, fall is a great time at Jeffrey, question is though, how about through the ice. After the move, I really got after them last winter and had success early on, but by mid Jan. I couldn’t find fish. Wondering if they go under the docks with heaters/bubblers? Maybe the canal? Wish I knew….Originally Posted by skinner80

Never have tried it through the ice and have moved away so don't get back there much but have caught them off the docks so late into winter that I remember my hands super freezing cold. I have ice fished crappie and bass off docks that were around 5 ft. deep down here in Kansas though.. They were high in the water column in this depth also which I think is because that is were there is richer oxygen level in this shallow water.

Yah pretty much…Docks, brushpiles, etc. I’ve found in the fall there can be a good trolling bite, meaning on some days the fish tend to be scattered chasing numerous schools of shad. Crankbait trolling or tightlining are good ways to cover ground. The numerous points and mouths of bays are places to check. Gotta find the bait!
