Had the nuclear stress test done this morning-twice and then needed to do a chemical ultra sound to make sure they could see everything they needed to check. Have a green light for tomorrow morning now. I will be glad when this is all over and I can get back to my usual routine. EB

Praying everything goes well tomorrow, and for a fast recovery from the surgery.

EB, Please let us know how you are doing as soon as you can. Still thinking about you. Have had several surgeries in the past. Some I felt calm and others I was anxious. But pulled through okay from all of them. Looking forward to hearing some good news.

Hope all went well, Beav. Was this an injury or just an age thing?

I got home about 1:30 yesterday afternoon from the surgery. The surgery lasted about a hour and a half. They didn't use a general anesthesia but did a epidural in the spine and just deadened from my waist down. He cleaned up the shredded Meniscus and some of the torn cartilage. They just used 3 little holes around my knee to do the work and one was for the camera to go in. I still don't have any pain with it so far. They gave me a prescription for Hydrocodone and I take one every 4 hours. I had to sit in the Hospital until I got all the feeling back in my lower body. They said I had to wait until I could go the the urnial before they would release me. They said that is the last part to gain feeling in and when you take a whiz then you can go home. They told my wife that she needed go get me up every 4 hours and take a pain pill thru the night to keep ahead of the pain and not let it get out of control. I told her she could just go to bed because I was up every hour going to the bathroom all night long. I woke her up at 5:30 this morning so she could go to work at 7:00. she got things set up for me for today while she is at work. I slept in the recliner chair with my leg elevated up with an ice pack on it throught the night. It was easier getting up from it rather than the bed.
You can't convince me of any death panels that a lot of you talk about. They run every test known to man on me before this surgery, and some of them twice. I have had all my own Dr.s thru this ordeal. Was never denied anything medical with this procedure. I am truly glad I had this done.
dpisani: I never had an anxious moment thru this whole ordeal, even when they did the MRI and I was in the can.
Don G: This started in July when we was up in SD at Lewis and Clark Lake for vacation. Ev's nephew had me use his boat instead of me pulling my boat up there so was using an unfamiliar boat and was drifting and a speed boat went by and thru up a good wave. It tossed me around in the boat and I twisted my knee then. It hurt for a few days and then got better. I didn't think anymore about it until the day of our fish fry and was on my feet all day and had a new pair of tennis shoes on. I turned and my foot didn't and twisted the same knee again. I went to the orthopedic surgeon and he said the meniscus was cut or torn. He gave me a shot of cortezone in the knee and I was doing therapy a couple times a week and was starting to feel better. We was at Church and had just gotten up to leave when friend seen me with a cane and came over and asked why the cane. A little kid come running down the isle and went between us and ran right into the side of my knee. My wife and Bob caught me on the way down. That was the most painful thing I had felt in a long time. I tried to do the therapy and couldn't do it any more so they suggested I go back to the surgeon and he did the MRI and said their was a lot more damage done now to the already weak knee so he said we would have to go in and repair it now.
Friday I went to my regular Dr for an H&P before the surgery, he did 2 chest E-Xrays, did an EKG, did some lab work. He sent me then on Monday to the Pulmonoligist, She run a breathing test on me, Tueday I went to my Cardioligist, and he did more E-Xrays and another EKG and decided he wanted me to have a stress test but since I couldn't do a tread mill he set it up for a nuclear stress test. Wed I took the lady I care for to the same orthopedic surgeon and found out she had a broken heal, on her right foot. Then Thursday I went in for the stress test because they couldn't do it on Wed. They did the test but it did show the lower part of my Heart which is what they wanted to check out. They re-did the test again and it still didn't show them what they needed to see. The Heart Dr set me up for an ultra sound chemical stress test and that finally showed him what he wanted to see, so he cleared me for Surgery for friday morning. I am walking on crutches for about 5 days and then can get rid of them if I feel sure enough that I don't need them. I never realized that there was a certain way to use a cane and crutches. Using them the wrong way. You can do more damage if used improperly. This is the first time in a long time that I don't have any pain in my knee when I walk or even standing or sitting. Glad I had it done now. I don't know if I will have to do more therapy or not. I go back in 2 weeks and he will see if I need the therapy then. I have exercised I am to do now to keep the leg moving. Glad to hear it EB. Don't over do it. Seems like I always say the same, glad I had that done, don't know why I waited.LOL. Far as MRI's, they don't bother me. The 2 Xanax and the valium make me not remember anything, but my wife says they fuss at me the whole time for moving. LOL. (I tried without the pills and the anxiety was so bad I thought I would have a heart attack)
