I have a lot to learn when it comes to knowing the proper conditions of an ice out. Drove out to Wehrspann, Walnut Creek, Shadow Lake, and Offutt Base Lake. 2 or 3 weeks ago, Base Lake and Shadow Lake were ice free, now they are completely frozen over again. I have to wonder, with another thick layer of ice on the Base Lake, will there be more dead shad whenever it thaws again?

Walnut Creek and Wehrspann were not completely covered with ice, but there was a significant amount of ice still left. I would imagine a week ago they might have been completely covered with ice just like the other two.

Ugh, Spring can't get here soon enough. I hope by March 31st the ice will be long gone. Last year I was out fishing on March 31st in a toasty 91 degree day and had great success with three +15" bass and four +12" crappie. I'll settle for 72 degrees ahead of a cold front this year.
