The month of leaf mulch and crocus

7 truckloads (Ford Ranger) of Garner's 2011 leaves collected off the streets. I added 5 loads of Garner's 2010 Timber Drive extention to add organic matter and (from what the soil test told me) potassium to the pumpkinpatch soil. I've piled up the leaf mulch to spread in front of the vines, and then till in for more organic matter in the fall. Organic matter feeds my dead tobacco field soil...more specifically the microbes which actually fix nitrogen into the soil and actively fight diseases and weed seeds! Healthy soil feeds your plants better than any chemical could ever print on its bag. This is why I've added about 125 yards of compost and another 80 yards of compost-amended soil since purchase Dec2011. Make soil your hobby and gardening will be your reward.

adding 10lbs spanish moss to oak tree. I put 10lbs up last year w/ a 20' pole saw, but this year I realized I could take the blade off the saw and zip-tie 2 long rod butt ends together and add them to the end of the pole so that I could reach a full 30' into the tree. Very effective!

I'll be getting the house painted soon...then I'll be saving up for a nice boat. Hope to be posting more fish pictures one of these days!

    Stay cool!
