Where are the likely places to look for em? And, Is there any poisonous types that look similar?

As far as I know there are "false morals" but they are quite a bit larger

As for looking for for them, like poppop said look near poplar trees in a moist area. The spot I found then was near the same type of tree on a floodplane of a creek down behind my house.

I found a couple dozen about 50' from the kitchen and another couple dozen about 300' away. Makes it a short trip to the frying pan!

does anyone know if ramps grow anywhere in caldwell county,love ramps....

I have found some in Chatham co around Pittsboro.

oh, and I was told that morels are hollow - that is how you can tell them apart from "false morels".

Tony I found these last week. Found about 30 more there this week. They're not very big, but they are sure good. I have found that if you find the little gray ones, you can leave them and come back in a couple days and they will be bigger. Tulip poplars are the key down here.
BTW, If you pull them out, you'll damage the main fungus. Cut or pinch them above the ground.
