big circle of follow the leader out in the middle then sound the horn and every one "race" to their spot!

I'm thinking of stripping everything not important out of the boat. gotta cut down on weight to increase idle speed!!!!

I'm thinking about bringing some paddles to use in addition to my official "idle" speed...but then, that might not work either! I'm gonna try and make it. It sounds like a bunch of fun and one doesn't have to worry about knocking a lower unit off heading up river at Smithville......right Dave????

For a take off, get all the boats launched and everyone in their boats....then blast an air horn. I have one on board.

I'll be there with my better half and Jeff will be there with his son.

Good luck next week guys...I have to go to Lincoln to help the bro in law w his deck.

We went to the mill this afternoon. 55 degrees. And a big old goose egg for crappie. The wind was up pretty good out of the south, at least it wasn't yard work!

Here's a pic of the only catch of the day.......that's why they don't call it catchin...I guess!!!!

I was there also. The wind was ridiculous! My baby bass was bigger than yours

0 crappie for us also. We got 2 8-10 inch bass, nothing else all afternoon. This race to 30 is not going to be won my me. Didn't see much catching all day by anyone and there were dozen or so boats and bank fisherman out there. Hopefully we don't have a 20 mph south wind next Sat cause today SUCKED

I bank fished Watkins today to get a feel for how close the crappie are to coming to the bank. It should be good next Saturday with the temps we have forecasted for this week. I managed 5. A 13", a 12", two 10" and an 8 incher. It was slow. The bigger fish were all males and they are getting dark. It's getting close. All fish came in less than 3' of water.

Didn't talk to you but I saw you leaving. I was fishing along the bank just north of the swim beach. There are lots of crappie there. too many in fact. They just haven't moved up yet. They should be getting with it by the end of the week. I'll be at the tournament but I won't compete. I have a very unfair spring advantage. After sampling the lake almost every year since 1991, I know every spawning bank and every hangout for big fish. I'll be glad to share at the weigh-in. Maybe I'll make some maps up to hand out so guys can keep thinning them out.
