Nice job Joe!
Well....AND a BONUS "Race to 30" Tournament on Watkins Mill Lake!
Dates have been set and Regatta Permits have been applied for. Discussion can ensue and you can begin planning accordingly.
Watkins Mill Race-to-30 (Details Below)
Saturday, April 19th, 2014 from 7:00am - ????
--OR--
Saturday, April 26th, 2014 from 7:00am - ????
(I put in for Regatta Permits on both these dates just in case. Weather can be iffy in April and the 19th is also Easter weekend, so I don't know how that will impact things. Stay tuned for a final call on this. Feel free to discuss the options in this thread.)
Smithville Lake
Saturday, June 14th, 2014 from 6:30am - 12:30noon (Father's Day Weekend)
Saturday, July 12th, 2014 from 6:30am - 12:30pm
Saturday, August 9th, 2014 from 6:30am - 12:30pm (CO-ED or Adult/Youth*)
Saturday, September 13th, 2014 from 7:00am - 1:00pm (Note the change in start time!)
- $30 entry.
- $25 main pot - $5 big fish.
- 100% Payout (amounts dependent upon # of boats)
- 7 fish will be weighed. All fish must be alive and longer than the state imposed length limit of 9"
- Live bait is allowed.
- Spider rigging will be allowed. So no restriction on rods. MO rules apply except only two hooks per rod.
- Must have 1 CDC member on the team.
- Maximum two people per boat.
- You can be a guide and/or fish with a guide but you cannot be paid or pay anyone to fish with you during the tournament.
- Fish anywhere on Smithville
- Trailering is allowed. Meet at Crow's Creek boat ramp and begin at the start time, whether launching or trailering. Be in the weigh-in line at Crow's Creek boat ramp by end time.
- Entries will be taken 30 minutes before start time in the Crow's Creek parking lot.
- All winning positions will tell how they caught their fish. General area, technique, depth, jig color, etc.
- Events are subject to cancellation due to weather. Determination will be made the Thursday prior to the tournament. Check the forum if in doubt.
- Cookouts may or may not happen. Depends on interest and participation.
- No whining. These are the rules and the dates and the times. Nobody is forcing anyone to participate.
- * The August 9th tournament is coed OR adult/youth. Two-member teams must have one of each gender in the boat OR have one adult and someone age 13 or under.
Special Rules for Watkins Mill Race-to-30 Tournament:
- All Previous Rules Apply with the following exceptions/additions
- There's still a $30 entry fee ($25 for main pot and $5 for big fish)
- No weights (except for big fish) will be taken. Winner is the first team in line with 30 fish.
- The reason we're not doing a Race-to-60 is so that people can fish by themselves if they want.
- Fish anywhere on Watkins Mill Lake (not Smithville Lake, obviously!)
- There's only one ramp, so no trailering allowed, and we will meet at that ramp before and after
- All local lake-specific rules apply!! While there is no length limit, there is a 30-fish/person limit. There are also regulations on boat motors / speeds. No Wake!!
You are responsible for abiding by all state and local laws and regulations. Crappie.com nor any Tournament Organizer may be held responsible for your actions and by participating, you are agreeing to be liable for yourself. Remember, these are voluntary events.
Good luck! Hope you all can participate!

Thanks Joe. Why no May tournament?
Feel the thump, hear the drag.
"GET IT IN THE BOAT"
I'm booked up in May. First weekend is crappie camp. Second weekend is graduation party for my daughter (tentatively....but I gotta leave it open just in case!). Third weekend is her graduation. Fourth weekend is Memorial Day. Mother's Day is in there somewhere, too. And the Corporate Challenge might be one of those weekends, too. Someday, maybe. But not this year! Unless someone else wants to take point on it. Which is completely okay! I just can't commit to one.
is it weird I'm more excited for the race to 30 tournament than the others? thats going to be stupid fun!
-Justin. Just a forum stalker/BS'er......
Sounds good Joe. Count me in.
Almost forgot Joe, Smithville is doing the brushpiles on April 19.
I looked up the regulation on HP for Watkins Mill and it is 10 HP. That will eliminate a lot of boats. Unless they will allow you on by using your trolling motor only. Anybody know that fishes that lake?
