We have been catching some on Pomme the last few years, they seem to have more fight in them.
Caught my first black nose crappie. Really marked well. Pretty cool fish for sure. Caught a nice limit an dreleased some good ones. Got to weigh a 1 lb 6 oz and a 1 lb 14 oz fish also for filletnfish. Fun morning and beat the rain and hail. Also may have got another fellow tournament fisherman to sign up. So hope to see one of Monty's buddies thios Saturday at the tournament. More good compitition for sure. Here is a pic of the black nose.

This one was only about 7-8 inchs but it took off like a 3 lb white bass. Almost through it back when I seen the racing stripe it had and figured I better get a picture of it.
Pretty cool looking fish!
Thats cool!! I caught 2 of them out of the same stake bed on Grenada last year about 14" each. Cool looking fish!!!

Now here is a stupid question..... are black nose crappie a sub-species of crappie or just a product of there environment? I fish Grand Lake down in OK quit a bit.....in the lake they look like your normal white crappie, Black crappie.....up where the elk river feeds grand they are almost all black nose....I had the pleasure of catching this one this black nose this summer. So when they are in the river do they take on the black stripe as an adaptaiton of there environment?.....[ATTACH=CONFIG]71627[/ATTACH

Nice fish.
There was a ton of talk on the Miss. board on this subject earlier. I caught them in Kentucky and Reelfoot Lakes 25 to 30 years ago. This is a good question for MOFISHMGR, let's go Jake with the official reason for the racing stripe.

Those are cool, wish they got bigger.

I fish Pomme quite a bit and usually catch 4 or 5 blacknose every year. Most are 9 to 10 inch or smaller, but this past weekend I caught my biggest one yet and it was in the 12" range. I didn't actually measure it so it could have been a little smaller or a little bigger. I agree that they seem to put up more fight for their size.
