Females will re absorb eggs after spawn. Not unusual for females to hold in same area.
long time lurker here. I went out kayak fishing in a local lake for post spawn crappie. Caught bunch of geezers but strange thing is that they all have the eggs but look dull color or withered. It was at really high ratio of such female crappies among the catches. Fishing 5' of 8' water in brush piles, water tempt at 83, lure color: Lime-A Nator
Indication of bad years for crappie fishing for this lake? What do you gurus think about this?

Welcome aboard
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
I may be mistaken but I believe that crappie don’t necessarily lay all their eggs and they get reabsorbed as ripinlips said.
If you go to the Missouri main forum, there is a spot to “Ask the biologist “ T that may be a better place to check.
