We catch 'em, I clean 'em, she cooks 'em. Thats our deal.

She doesn't always go along - sometimes I just take the kids (or one of them), and a few times a year I'll go by my lonesome. She does make Most of the trips though.
But I'd much rather have the whole family in the boat than go by myself.

She and I have been together for 24 of my 41 yrs - you'd think I'd be ready for some "alone" time by now, wouldn't ya? In fact, this past Saturday was our wedding anniversary and we spent it.......Fishing. :D

Gotta love that!! Congrats to the two of you. Meant to tell you sooner too.........You have a couple of fine kids. They were both a joy to have around camp. Good job, Mom and Dad.

Hubby and I have fished together going on 28 years now. I used to fish the catfish tournaments with him and finally burned out on those and quit fishing them. He fished the rest of those alone and did just as good without me.

We've been crappie fishing for a couple of years now and are learning as we go. Sometimes he kicks my butt crappie fishing and then sometimes I kick his (crappie fishing). We have a great time together!!! We just enjoy the alone time away from home and away from people. It's the only time we get to really enjoy our time together!:p

I have seen guys set on their boat and scream at their wives because of the way they were backing the boat in the water. They have to be taught how not screamed at. Once you show them how to do it on open land, field, parking lot, then leave them alone. Show them that if they pull forward they will get out of trouble. LEAVE THEM ALONE and let them not be nervous because you are there. They need to experience the jacknife, the over correcting, when to stop and pull forward. Give them a chance. If you don't have the patients to teach them then let someone else give it a try.
OR You know how you do when you fish by yourself? Just pretend you are by yourself and do it the same way and don't get mad at the little lady. Good luck. Ferdi aka Fred:D

Just recently my wife expressed interest in going out fishing with me, which I would entirely welcome!

That said, it hasn't happened yet. I'll believe it when I see it.

Billbob - THANKS for the kind words re: my kids. I appreciate it. Always tell them I have ONE job in life, and its to make sure they turn out okey-dokey.

Ferdi - I have to agree with you about the couples at the boat ramp. I've commented more than once that the public boat ramp on a holiday weekend would be a great place for an enterprising divorce attorney to set up shop.
My Mrs tried her hand at backing up trailers a couple of times years ago - gave her some direction, told her to go slow, and let her have at it. Took me awhile to save up enough money to fix the trailer lights and frame, and the truck bumper. :D Since then, we decided she likes me to handle the truck, and instead she does a darn fine job of taking the boat off and driving it on, except when its windy or we're fishing a river current.

I have got to tell this story after that.
A buddy and I had been walleye fishing on the Mississippi River. We, along with 3 other boats were patiently awaiting our turn at the single ramp. A woman was attempting to back the boat trailer down the ramp. The husband, at least I'll call him that, was yelling, screaming, and cursing her as she was having a hard time doing it. She finally got it straightened out and was starting to back it into the water when the "Husband" cursed her again and said, "It's about time!!" She stopped the truck, opened the door, got out, reached in and put the truck in NEUTRAL! The truck, trailer, and all went into the water and sank! Everyone of us that were waiting for the ramp started cheering and clapping. It was great!

    Default My Best Friend

If Sue dosent go with me its not much fun. She is the reason we got into fishing. I use to play golf around 200 rounds per year & we never saw each other on the weekends. Sue wanted to try & do something together so fishing is what we decided on. The rest is history. I havent touched a golf club in 3 yrs & dont miss it but cant wait to go fishing with her again. Thanks Sue.

Default I Think The Ramp Is The Problem

Well Guys Paula Can Do It If She Would Just Get It Out Of Her Mind And Quit Thinking About It First. We Have A 6 X 12 Enclosed Trailer That We Use On Fireworks Shows. And We Normally Hook It To Her Explorier And She Has Pulled It Hundreds Of Miles And Can Do A Good Job With It. She Has Even Backed It Into The Driveway A Couple Of Times Without Any Help. I Normally Pull A Flatbed Gooseneck With My F-250 Super Cab Long Bed. I Think The Problem Is All The People Watching At A Ramp And The Fact That The Boat Trailer Is Longer Is What Bothers Her The Most. And Both Of Us Don't Want To Be The First One Of Us Two To Screw Up The Boat. Since We Have Been Going To Truman I Have Been Pulling The Boat With My Pickup Instead Of Her Explorier Due To The High Water At The Ramps. There Is A Difference To Backing A Shorter Trailer Than A Longer Trailer. I Have The Same Problem When I Go From My 25' Gooseneck Flatbed To The Shorter 20' Gooseneck Stock Trailer.
And With Me Being So Long Legged And Her Being Short The Seat Is Always Out Of Wack For Her In The Pickup! She Drives The Pickup Great By Its Self, She Just Don't Put Her Foot Into As Much As She Should Sometimes! Lol But One Trip Riding With Her Across Springfield In Heavy Traffic In The Explorier Will Make Any Man Turn To Religion Fast!

Great post, Gary. It is a pleasure to know you two. Golf? Is that game still around? I used to play in leagues 3 nights a week and had standing tee times on Saturday and Sunday morning. I haven't played for about 3 years now myself. Crappie fishing keeps getting in the way.
