In july they will be pretty shallow early and move deeper as the sun gets up. I'd start on chunk rock banks throwing medium running crank baits

give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetimemurdok thanked you for this post
Drop shot is always good that time of year also.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.dirtrider389 LIKED above postmurdok thanked you for this post
Swimming a grub is a good way to get bit year round on the Rock. Especially if you are in the Indian Point area. Might get into a mess of goggleyes. Great eating fish!

Lower end of the lake has always done me good. Go early and don't be afraid to throw the ned rig if conditions allow.

The Rock is not a small mouth lake. Mostly spotted bass. Though I have caught a few small mouth fishing tournaments.
You would do better going up to Stockton. An easy run up from The Rock and more small mouth. A jig and a pumpkin Yamamoto Hula Grub, spinning rig, 8 lb. line.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
Kayak on the river is how to catch smallies in Missouri
