Default Can anyone tell me what this is for?

Okay so the wife and I just bought a different bass boat this summer. While going over everything in the boat we discovered this outlet or receptacle of some sort, and a bracket or holder for something else to be mounted in. I am suspecting this setup is for a black light, but I have never seen anything like it nor can I find a manufacturer that has a similar Mount setup. The mount and receptacle are manufactured by Perko, but I've looked all over their website and cannot find anything that resembles this. If any of you recognize this setup I would sure appreciate someone telling me what the heck it's for. The boat is a 1989 champion 18'4".Name: 1535668586204.jpeg

That is called a watertight deck connection.

The other is for a navigation light like this one.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I agree with the watertight deck connection, but I don't believe the other socket is for navigation light, as I have a socket for that on the bow of the boat. There are no electrical connections inside the socket on the top side of the gunnel. This is why I was thinking it was merely a mounting position for some type of black light or other apparatus. On another note, I had no idea that those watertight deck connections were so pricey though, good grief.

We used to have one on an old boat we had. It's for a black light like you guessed for bass fishing at night.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Hogster1, do you happen to remember what brand of light you had? I would like to be able to use the same mount that's on the boat if possible in order to avoid more holes. If not I'm sure I could always go with a suction cup type Mount option, and use the power source that's already there.
    Thanks for the info!

I sure dont. That's been years ago.
I do remember that we made the mount the light was mounted to though. And it fit in a perko socket just like the one on your top rail.
I will ask my Dad if he remembers what we used.

Is there a grove inside that socket?

This is the best I could do as far as photographs go of the inside of that socket on the top of the gunnel.Name: 1535685797253.jpeg

That's tapered from the top the little fingers in the bottom expand and grip. I would about bet that is a flag pole holder from perko. For like a ski flag. You might contact perko they could steer ya the right way.
