Default Looking at a cabin on LOZ and wondered about the noise levels...

We are considering buying a cabin on LOZ in the mile 75 area. Since this is a ways from the dam, is there a lot of boat traffic? How about the irritation level?

Having seen the mess, er, festivities in the Camdenton area last weekend, I have to wonder about the wisdom of buying into the lake.

    Any suggestions welcome! Thanks.

My folks live at the 51mm and it's quite tame compared to the lower lake area. Holidays are busy of coarse but for the most part quiet compared.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

I think you would be fine up there other than the occasional dam to dam run.

Seems to me it is mostly fishing boats up that way. I think the big boats mostly stay down below the mid 60's or so where the shallow main channel flats end. A lot of the coves aren't even deep enough for a big lake boat to get in to.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you and your family want a place to get away, that area should make a fine location. We're at the 61mm and love it. What has been already stated is spot on. Holiday weekends are busy (all lakes are busy on holiday weekends), but you can still fish. Most boats you'll see are fishing boats and pontoons. Yes, there still is the dam to dam run to contend with (twice a year I believe) and a few poker runs. Wouldn't consider leaving this area. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the replies and help. We visited the cabin and weren't thrilled with it, but we do like the area. We're still looking, but we're not in a hurry. I'm glad to hear that the upper end of the lake isn't too much of a zoo. Since we're semi-retired, we can avoid the busiest times and stick to fishing/visiting during the week.

Update-- Just agreed to buy a place on the upper lake in the Edmonson/Heit's Point area. Looking forward to getting the boat in place and spending time there.
