I got mine put on at the dealer. You still have to drill two holes for screws and also use epoxy but I think it's better than mounting the ducer to the hull. My boat also came with a transducer plate welded on which I really like. One ducer is the for the unit it came with and the other is for my after market Helix.

I've done that, and it's worked well. I've also mounted a mahogany board but ran it from the top of the transom and screwed in at the level of the splash well. I sealed the edge of the board and the gap between the board and the boat with silicone. The transducer then mounted to the board. It worked well but wasn't the best looking thing I've done.

After mounting my Lowrance ducer I wish I had got one of the boards. Told myself if I have to redo it I will. But I like the stumpjumper ducer mount also.

I like to fish Truman and other lakes but Truman seems to be my favorite, put on a Helix 7 SI and have torn off 2 transducers since ( about 8 months ) at 160 a transducer that is 320, well that's enough for me went to the stumpjumper, spring loaded should stop all the tear off's. Everything I've heard about the stumpjumper has been positive. Don't wait till you tear one off ( it will happen on truman ) invest in a Stumpjumper, unless your going to mount on trolling motor.

I just mounted a SI transducer as well. I purchased one of the plastic boards and at this point I am glad I did. I went yesterday to try it on the water and I am going to have to move the transducer further than my orginal screws would allow. So I would be drilling more holes in my boat at this point if I hadn't purchased the plastic product. I used the 3M 5200 silicone glue stuff on the back and around the edge. also filled the orginal transducer holes and put the plate over the top. I had no water in the boat after being on the water about 4 hours. So it was worth the money for no more holes.....that is scary putting that drill to your boat.
