    Default Skeeter Repelent

I went to the deer woods yesterday to hang a new stand. The dang skeeters about carried me off. I hosed down good with Cutters three of four times during the day. That was like putting on steak sauce and ringing the dinner bell. I don't have a Thermocell yet but will have. Any recommendations for a decent repellent?
    Thanks.

When I ran the store we had a lot of guys that swore by the Thermacell. Always had guys coming in to get refills before trips to Canada for fishing and bear hunting. I've never had one either but may buy one of the lantern style they make for our back deck.

I have a Thermacell and we used it camping in Canada and it works well. I actually bought it for my wife when we attend outdoor events. If there is one mosquito in 5 miles it will light on her and the bites get infected. So we always use it when we are outside even at home.

Thermacell is the way to go. Been using one for 2 years and don't go hunting or camping without it.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

I have two Thermacells, they work great.
They won't work well if there is air movement, it blows the vapor from the Thermacel away.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Mosquitoes won't land on an oily surface. The chemicals interfere with their ability to find their way. If you're coated with a solid layer of 40% DEET and still getting bit, I'd pay a dollar to see it.

Thermacell only works if you're staying in a small area without much breeze.

I've done the thermacell for a couple years and it works. As others have said, a breeze will ruin it for you. My wife says essential oils (homeopathic?) but I don't know what. (Maybe Peppermint like Skeeter said?) Also heard that dryer sheets work good, but haven't tried it. Best to do several at the same time, imo.
