Default Tracking down an old boat

Anybody on here every try to track down an old boat? I'm wanting to try to find the current owner (assuming there is one) of my grandpa's old boat. I am currently sifting through paperwork to find the hull identification number (assuming I can't do anything without that). My question is, once I find that, how would I go about finding it, if even possible. Thanks in advance!

Few boats leave the state they are first registered in. Might go to your local county clerk and ask them to run that number to see if anybody is keeping it registered currently in your state or residence. National insurance data banks might have a history data on it if a insurance claim has been filed on it. Hope this helps. Good luck in the search.

I would say make friends with someone in Law Enforcement. They should be able to send you right to the boat's location or last registered owner.
