With the tornados in southern Missouri tonight this is a good review.

Are you off your rocker OLD DMW? I am not paying for a weather cell phone app for my phone! Especially when I can get on the internet with my phone and get the weather information.
Yeah I said the same thing as above after I got my smart phone! Ok so I did buy some country music ring tones at $.99 each, but I sure didn't purchase any weather phone apps.
After talking with some of the weather spotters and storm chasers in my area I found out that most of them use a app that is called imap Weather Radio. The app costs a one time fee of, I am thinking $3.99 or $4.99, just check Google Play or the Apple Store. Plus you pay for any air or data time that you use to your phone company. Most folks have a good enough data plan to cover what little you will use with this app.
This is the best Weather app I have ever used! It has a good radar for a more advanced views. The great thing is you can setup the app for different locations and receive watches and warnings for all of them. Like me I have the app set to Preston, MO so I know if any bad weather is headed that way. I also have it set for our home in Springfield, MO. Plus in the settings you can have this app follow you. So if I am at Clinton, MO visiting my favorite Crappie Tackle Store, this app will also tell me if there are any watches or warnings for Clinton, MO. Another plus for this app is that after it informs you of a alert. You can go into it and click the app then you can read a printed out version of the warning or watch for your area. This makes it nice if you’re in a location like a doctor’s office that you need to be quiet. But the app also has a play button that has the same voice as a weather radio. So the app will give all of the written warning or watch in either written or in voice. Ok so there isn’t a watch or warning going on, with this app, you can click the play button and hear the same forecast as a weather radio. And you can do this with any location that you have set in the settings!
BACK EAIRLIER IN THIS THREAD I SAID THERE ARE TIMES THAT YOUR LOCAL NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WEATHER TRANMITTER MIGHT BE OUT OF SERVICE. WITH THIS APP YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO HEAR WARNINGS, WATCHES AND ALSO FORECASTS FOR THAT AREA. THIS APP HAS BEEN VERY IMPORTANT TO ME WHEN I KNEW THE TRANSMITTER WAS OUT OF SERVICE IN HERMITAGE, MO AND I KNEW THAT MY FOLKS WEATHER RADIO WAS NOT WORKING. BECAUSE I WAS STILL ABLE TO HEAR EVERYTHING GOING ON IN HICKORY COUNTY.
So if your lucky enough to be heading to Mississippi to fish. You will still be getting the weather alerts for home and the weather alerts in Mississippi!
I have to say that when my wife Paula still had a job at Dillons Foods here in Springfield before they closed this app was a big hit with the folks over there. Paula would leave her phone in the customer service center and after it went off a few times with this app folks starting coming to her phone waiting on Paula to open the app and play the message. Her store manager even made the comment that it was like having a weather radio right in the store when Paula was working.

All of the weather apps that I mentioned above are not only good for Spring and Summer. But they are also great for Fall and Winter.
Why would you want a weather app for Fall? If you have stuff in a late garden that still hasn't been picked yet. You would like to be informed of freezing temperatures.
In Winter everyone needs to know those times to leave the water running for forecasted low temperatures below zero. Wind chill watches and warnings, or if your like Slab, it helps you remember to get gas for the snow blower!!!
I do want to thank Slab for allowing me to share some information about weather. I will be continuing to share different information about weather in this thread. And I invite you to post where you get the best weather information from.
I did mention about us folks in Missouri have one of the best Department of Transportation Maps of Traffic conditions and Weather Traffic conditions. Our state also has free smart phone apps with all the information on them too.
What I am going to do is provide you the links to MoDot and all the states that join our state of Missouri.
