Thanks Ed!! I wouldn't say I am a weather man, more a pyro guy who wants to keep his powder dry.

Default MoDot App. Ever think about using a highway app for weather information?

Did you ever think about downloading the free MoDot App for weather info? Yep most states have free apps from their state department of transportation. We are lucky here in Missouri to have a good free app from MoDot.

Why use the MoDot app for weather info? If you traveling across the state the app has a map showing construction areas and also wrecks on the major routes. Ok why I connect the MoDot app with weather conditions? The app will also show highway closers due to Flooding! In the winter time the app shows road conditions like Covered, Partly Covered, Mostly Clear and Clear. During this past winter when there was a large wreck on I-44 at Rolla, MO. That wreck and highway closer even made the national news. The app also showed it and several wrecks around my area of Springfield, MO!

Default Do to the forecasts this evening, Watch vs Warning

Ok so those nut cases over at the Weather Service are posting a Watch. What does that really mean? What does it mean when the NWS folks post a Warning?

    Default Free Phone Apps

I have already stated in this thread that both Paula and I have several apps on our smart phones. One reason we have so many is so we have a Backup Plan in case one isn't working correctly. But why else? Another reason is having faith? Oh no I am not preaching about weather. What I am talking about is believing in who is providing the information to me. Its just like you watching the same world wide news channel or you watching the same local news channel. You believe in those folks providing to you the most correct news. And I am not saying one is better than the other. And everyone makes mistakes including the National Weather Service. Predicting what mother nature does is sometimes just a gamble!

Everyone gets the same information the same sources!! There is the US model computer forecast and the European model. Plus the National Severe Storms Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma provides a lot of information. The National Weather Service in your area will do a forecast. Some of your advanced TV or Radio Stations will also come up with their own ideas on the forecasts.

So back to phone apps and why I have the ones I use. Because some phone apps just work better on some phones than others. And we use different apps for different features. I can operate a computer but sometimes my smart phone drives me nuts.

The AccuWeather app has lots of features but the main reason I use it is because I really like the easy Weather Radar it has. The radar will show the difference between snow, ice and rain really easy too. It is a free App too with not a large amount of junk advertising on it. AccuWeather also has videos and graphs if your into that stuff.

The KY3 Storm Team phone app its free! The app does have a radar on it. It is harder for me to read and understand than the AccuWeather radar. But the 10 day forecast I think is the best part of the app and the main reason I use the KY3 Storm Team phone app. Its easy to read and understand. It also has an Hourly Forecast, it shows current Alerts, weather Headlines, a Blog and a weather video forecast all of which I never use.

NOAA Weather App, its free! It has a easy 10 day forecast, easy Hourly Forecast and a Radar. I really like the 10 day forecast and the Hourly Forecast. But as far as I am concerned the Radar could be improved a lot.

KSPR Early Warning Weather App, its free! The radar is ok but not to my personal liking. The app does have a Ten Day Forecast, Hourly Forecast, Alerts, Weather Rundown and a video of the local forecast. The main reason I have this app is for another backup for the 10 day forecast. I find that jumping from the different parts is hard because of my larger fingers sometimes.
