There is a great story connected to the above post by Jared. I was online one night several years ago. And I found this darned website on Crappie fishing! Heck I got on here and started looking around! Heck I was on cloud 9! I went in and even woke up my wife who was in bed because she had to go to work the next morning at 4 am! I said hon there is a website that is for only Crappie Fishing! And they are giving lake fishing reports! DON'T EVER WAKE UP WIFE WHEN SHE HAS TO BE AT WORK IN 4 HOURS!
So for the next couple of days I am on here! I get to talking to Monty and some of the other guys on here! Well they are all talking about a fishing camp for the up coming weekend! Something about some tournament for someone who had medical bills on Saturday. Well I am not into tournaments and I had only had my boat for a few months! But something to help someone else out I am all in! Well all these guys started hammering me to come up and have some fun! I had never fished Truman around Bucksaw. All the guys said they would take care of me! So at 9 pm on Friday night I finally gave in and told them to count me in I would be there early Saturday morning to fish! At 9:15 pm I am on the phone with my buddy! Hey I am going to be at your house at 3 am in the morning we are fishing a tournament on Truman in the morning! Well everyone welcomed us I had guys fighting over my Truman Lake map to mark spots! I had guys handing me bags of lead heads and skirts! Well we fished the tournament! Yeah we caught some great fish! We never weighed in but we watched the weigh in. Fact is we might have had the winning fish! But to us it was more important to help someone out than to win a tournament! So this big old boy came up to us and asked how we did? Jared! LOL! Well I got into the live well and showed him! He said you might have won the tournament if you would have weighed in! I told Jared how we felt about it. Well Jared wanted to take a picture of a few of my fish to post on here. As I am holding up the fish to get the picture Jared says hold the fish out from you so it will look bigger! To this day I have still give him a hard time about him and his fish pictures! So if you want a fish to look larger in a picture contact Jared and he will take a great picture for you!![]()

One of my first camps was at LOZ. I didn't know too many people yet so I put up my tent and wandered through the camp site and found that Dan and Paula were the camp host central. They welcomed me and introduced me to everyone. I have made a lot friends from all the camps that I have been to. Dan camper was central head quarters where all the activities were and he always had a big crock pot of chili for any hungry soul. Paula would fix egg sandwiches for Bugman to get him up and going so he could put us on some hot fishing spots. Got to fish with Slab. A lot of beer drinking and BS went on at night and we all had a good time. I met Jared at the Truman camp. When I told him that I was coming down from St Louis, he told me not to waste my gas pulling my boat that I could fish out of his boat. If you have not been to any of these camps I would suggest that you go. There are a lot of good people on this crappie.com.
Mark you are right on about all the good people. I have met some great people over the year at camps or fishing. A few of them I had never even met until I climbed in their boat or them in to my boat. Some of these guys will now be lifelong friends. We have pulled together in the past for members in their time of need and we will do it again if we have to. Can't wait for camp to roll around again to see everyone.

Dan, I had the same experience at my first Truman camp. I pulled my boat for the 6 hour drive up there. While there, both Jared and Bwillaub told me not to burn my gas pulling my boat the next time. They both offered me a seat in their boats. It's amazing how Crappie.com members will make you feel right at home even the first time they meet you!! I made some great friends that weekend!!!
