Killed this dude this morning pretty early. He gobbled in the tree and then hit the deck and didn't have much to say. Came in and I shot him dead. Man if it could just happen like that every time I go. Looked for morel's but I think the nights are just too stinkin cold. Hope we don't miss them all together. The bird was 22lbs on the money with a 10 3/4 inch beard and 1 1/8 inch spurs. His wings were pretty rough from strutting so he was a busy body thats for sure.

Sweet. I've been mushroom huntin' and takin the call to see if any are around to hunt. No responses this year. Might be due to the neighbor boys riding their ATV's & motorcycles up and down the trails everyday.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

No sir that's my granddads old 16 gauge. It's a recoil type discharge and she kicks like a rented mule.
