Thread: twain gathering???

May pick a campground close to Cannon County Dam cabins so those of us who do not camp could be fairly close. Just sayin if it is the right weekend I am hoping to attend, and drag one or two of my fishing buds along.

well Ray Beherns is right by cannon dam general store and cabins, but the state park actually has A frame cabins in one loop and the south fork resort is within a mile of the state park campgrounds. ya get a better selection of stuff at the general store, but your gonna get better fishin' advise at the south fork. I tell ya, it's 6 in one and half dozen in the other. my thoughts, it depends when we do it. spawn and post spawn I think the west end of the lake is be better fishing, some like the dam area. if we are getting into a summer pattern when we do this, again, it's a toss up. there are dang sure more pleasure boaters to deal with toward the dam and on those ramps,as well.

There is also southfork Resort and bait and tackle at the end of 107 good price on Cabins and there really nice people. I for got about them being there.

107 to my experiance is the best ramp on the lake, it's about 30 yrds give are take from the water and not very steep. As for as campgrounds, state park is within 2 miles and southfork resort is about three and there not bad for price. But no matter where you stay it doesn't take long to get to anywhere........I'v got a gathering On May 3rd, 4th and 5th so if it's planned then I'll be there if not I'll probably be there anyway....

it looks like the first part of June is what works the best for most of us. how about the weekend of June 1-2 for the gathering? does this set well with you guys? this is the weekend after memorial day. this would work well for me mostly because this is the weekend my wife is already off, but also because I can take the whole week off work (and only burn 4 vacation days), and I'll probably camp from memorial day to june 2nd.

sp, i have never camped at twain so have no idea where would be best. june 1st and 2nd is really inconvenient for me but i will try to see if i can make it happen. my mom comes up to visit me once a year and i take her fishing at a local quarry and it has always been that weekend but maybe we can change it. she's 82 and a very good crappie fisherman. i'm willing to help anyway i can. i know the next saturday the 8th is crappie masters at twain. just gonna have to set a date and go with it cause it will be hard to get one to fit everyone.

That works for me E will be out of school so we can be up for most of the week.
