My son and I have found several small black or "gray" morels early this week but they have all been very small. We have plenty of moisture but still need some warm nights.
Went out three days for an 1hr each day after work. Walking a new area where my buddy has 400 acres. Haven't found any trace of reds, blacks or yellows. It's always hardest finding spots in a new territory. One leg is longer than the other walking in these hills. Illinois shroom huntin' was so much easier than this Ozark Mountain stuff. We got a good rain yesterday so hopefully with the warmth they start poppin’. This area has a lot of old fallen elms & sycamores.
Anyone else found any yet?

We have been finding small greys this week
Well, IT DEFINENTLY wasnt a warm night last night.....lol I've got 26.7 down here in the valley with a nice big frost on....
i heard up people around the state finding them, but around here north of kc at my spot it is still way to cool. hardly any mayapples or anything has started to grow. I am thinking a week or two around home before they start popping
Hit another area of the 400 acres that sees a lot more sun and still nuttin'.
We've got the moisture, just need the heat.

I'm going out tomorrow and all weekend after fishing. Hopefully have a good report on both.
New goal 16" crappie by December 30
I found a few thumb size greys in Platte county this morning . I'm going to give them a week before I check again . It's been too cold here in KC , but the warm weather tomorrow through Tuesday should get them poping up good .
went looking today on the place, nothing, neighbor found 15 grey ones
Had a buddy find 10 gallons of whites Saturday around the 79mm of LOZ.Said they were everywhere.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
