    Default A/C & More

A/C took a crap night before last. Took off work yesterday afternoon to try and diagnose the problem. Signal to tell pump & fan to turn on. Good. 200 to the unit. Good . Took Capacitor to Johnstone, checked good. Checked the relays for function. Good. Checked for capcitance between compressor motor and ground. S.O.B. Friggin' compressor motor is shorted out. Called HVAC guy to come over and verify. Yep.
5 year warranty. Ran good 5 yrs & 2 mo.

So I'm pissed and I decide to do something I've been trying to get around to and upgrade the software on the Humminbird 797. Get the software loaded onto the memory card. Go to turn on the depth finder, no juice. I just hooked up two new batteries to the system a couple months ago. Battery charger says to check connections. Find the breaker contact are completely corroded. Both batteries were putting out 0.16V. Something allowed the batteries to discharge. Got the software updated on the unit. We'll see if these newer batteries will hold a charge now. The corrosion was so bad on the breaker it'll have to be replaced.

Hope the depth finder works with the new software.

That's a bummer on the AC, especially as hot as it has been/is going to be

If you need the name of a good heat/air guy, I found one here in Galena that is honest and quite reasonable.

Sorry to hear about the battery/locator problems. at least your locator works:D

Sometimes I think about getting rid of all the luxuries. What ever happened to $200 fixes anyway. Seems like everything I'm running into is $1000 or more.

At least we have my parents so close so we can sleep in comfort.

The warranty has been honored. Still a little pricey to have it installed, but it's a whole lot better than $1200.00.

Next job is to fix the battery situation when the house gets below 90 degrees.

    Praise the Lord!

Figured out my battery dilema. *(*&)% circuit breaker doesn't open the circuit when the flap if flipped up like it's supposed to. I left the ignition in the on position, but that shouldn't have mattered with the breaker open. We'll it did with the faulty breaker and drained both batteries down to squat (1.7v). My crystal ball shows Blue Sea getting a package with a nasty-gram in the near future.

I put the batteries on the 6 amp charger for 24 hours each. Got one to 67 percent. The other a little lower. Got them both back on the sauce and I'll check them in the morning.

Air conditioning is working great now. For some reason my unit isn't louder than everyone else in the neighborhood now.

Oh well, I'm headed to Mark Twain this weekend to pre fish for Crappie Masters. I gots da tournament fever and had to get some medicine. Prolly get me arse handed to me, but non the less will enjoy every minute of it.

Thanks for being there to let me vent. It's really therapeutic.
