thinking about going to st louis for the weekend with wife and kids. never been before any suggestions on what areas to stay in or avoid. thanks

Oh....also, go to Priceline and NAME YOUR OWN PRICE (click the Make a Bid button for Hotels below Captain Kirk).

Click the 4-star rating and choose the downtown area (Area 1) and bid $49.

Provided there isn't something else going on in town and it isn't a holiday weekend or something, you will probably land in the Sheraton City Center for a fraction of the cost. Great hotel. Great service. They charge for internet and water bottles and breakfast, but....if you don't care about that cuz you don't plan on using it, you're golden.

We do this every time and only once couldn't get in that hotel for that price.
