Default Stockton Barn & Kit Report

Barn put a whoopin' on me today.
    I caught ~25 w/seven keepers. Barn had 60+ w/13 keepers.
Should be phenomenal fishing in two years cuz we had a lot of 6-8 crappie in the boat.

The trolling bite is starting up.
We were planer boarding down by twin bridges. Barn had the #4 Rapala Shad Raps going and I had on Bandits. I would recommend the Rapala's Chrome/Blue on a beautiful sunny day like today.
Water temp 72 clarity was a little more stained than it's normal summer clarity. Could see the baits a little over a foot deep.
Crappies are suspended 12 - 20 ft. No relation to breaks or wood. They are resting and waiting to slam some shad. Going with the wind produced better than against for sure.

    Default not too bad

the wind can be a gift and a curse at the same time. it's nice to drift troll with the wind and it helps to cool off when its hot, but if you don't want it, it can be a real pain.

the wind at truman this weekend was just way too much, sounds like you got some up north too.

    thanks for the report.

Nice job Kit and Barn, I spent the day out fitting my boat the do some spider rigging on Stockton next weekend. This will be my first attempt at spider rigging, it should be interesting since I have never done it nor seen anyone doing it.

Nice fishing Kit and Barn. I'm gonna try that trolling cranks sometime. I'll just be trolling 2 at a time tho.

I would pay money to watch, Tom. :D Those first few times out can be comical.

I've been doing a lot of reading about planer boards, esp. for the crappie. Were you using planer bobbers or the boards themselves while trolling those cranks?

I think you are right! I will take some pictures of my mishaps, I think there will be a learning curve and hope it doesn't take me to long to figure it out. I am going to call you next time I come to Truman and see if we can hook up. Not sure when it will be I checked the miles and it is 268 mile round trip for me which is just to much for a one day trip very often.

Sounds good. It's only a 90 mile round trip for me and that seems a long way sometimes. Let me know and we'll see if we can find a few. We can get a campsite and fish Saturday and Sunday morn.
