Default Stockton Report 5/8 -5/10 Lots of Crappie not many slabs

Fished Birch Branch fri evening and sat and south of cc today. Caught lots of crappie 12 to 18ft deep on jigs and minows. The only thing was we might catch one or two keepers of a tree and that was it. Is this how its going for everyone else or am i just fishing in the wrong spot?

I don't know for sure since I could not fish this weekend because we still do not have power back on but I would say this is because of the weather and fronts moving through. I thought the fishing would be tough this weekend. On the bright side you got to go!

    Angry

I fished the same area saturday...I had a 14 1/2 and 12 1/2 and 50 throw backs....15 ft deep...jigs. I talked to 3 others that had 2 people per boat and they had 1-2-3 keepers...so it wasn't you...it was just what was happening
at the time. Larger fish were biting in Highpoint area earlier in the week, but it was muddy enough to walk across. Didn't get a chance to go today...

The water was actually clearing up as the day went along. Should be clear by now.

sounds like a good day to me wildhunter, on or two to a tree is a good thing, it doesn't happen often but sometimes in the summer some of the coves, or cuts on the west side of the lake in the C.C. area can produce several off one tree, keep up the good work and keep posting, later man

    Default slow days

Brought the wife for some crappie fishing last week on wed. and thur. started off in a little cove off the main lake east of twin bridges and had some luck the first 30 minutes with 7 crappie and 1 20" walleye. Fish quit us and we searched till almost dark before we found any more keepers. Got 6 more on a secondary point in birch branch. all fish caught about 12-15' jig minnow combo or red head white road runner. Tried cork and minnow on some known spawing areas and caught 6-8" bass only. Fed them a couple of dozen minnows and finally gave up on that technique. Thursday only marginally better. lots of dinks and small bass. wife caught a 6 lb cat that gave her a great fight on the roadrunner. Finally after just about cooking the wife in the sun (she put spf 30 on 3 times) we found some on a single brush pile and caught 15 between 2 and 5 pm. shook the pile too much and they were gone. tried one last spot and got 3 more at dark. Final count when we left at dark was 31 crappie, 1 nice walleye, 2 wb, 1 channel cat .(oops forgot the pesky 100+ 6 " black bass we threw back LOL) Pretty slow fishing for almost 20 hours of hard fishing. h2o temp from 62.1 to 67.5 . Was cleaning the fish the next morning when the "hurricane" hit. What a storm !! 80 mph sustained winds for 7-10 minutes. Came back out of the cellar and the cleaning station was scattered across the back yard. didn't lose the fish though. got them cleaned and we are going to eat them tonight. What we go through for a crappie fry. LOL. That "TAP" is why we do what we do.

great report, thanks. It seemed like a hurricane. After that I wander what 150mph wind feels like. I hope everyone kept some trees. It hit Carthage hard.
