I went out to Camp Branch on Saturday. Optimism got the best of me. Tooled around coves slow trolling minnows in anywhere from 10-23 FOW anywhere from 8'-12' down. Marking fish but not coaxing bites. All the while casting a minnow 18" under a bobber toward the shore that was 5' high, it seemed. Stunk it up. Water temp was 63 everywhere I looked.
Then around 4:00pm (don't know if it was the time of day or if I finally started learning what to do) I'd just slowly cruise through the timber dropping minnows about 8' down on every tree I'd pass in 10-12 fow. Caught a 13" and a 12" and a dink.
Three fish isn't a pattern, but it was encouraging to see big[ger] crappie come out of Smithville. Both females, and neither one looked ready to spawn quite yet.

JoeDog, sounds like to me you will get them figured out. The way I see it is if you have figured out these dang computers, figuring out the fish should be easy. I hate this thing I attempt to use every evening.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, rather to skid in sideways, body used up and totally worn out screaming 'WOO~HOO what a ride!'
nice "work" Joedog
I went to smithville's northern most ramp monday for a few hours. only 3 keepers 6-8 feet deep in 15 fow by trees that were near the channel. I would catch one and fish the area for 20 minutes without another bite. then move and get one more. very muddy and very high water. I'm glad I had a gps or I would have never found my way back to the ramp!
went out yesterday and caught six keepers two of which was right at 14 inches good day to be on water. Talk to some people today said fishing was bad today , letting out water.
May all your live wells be full.Dave
Hey, Got...where were you fishin' Little Platte or Camp Branch?
Just curious if it was close to the dam or not cuz....even when they're letting out as much water as they are, I was wondering how that affected the rest of the lake. I mean, I know it all draws down but to me it seems like it would agitate things more near the dam than further away?
