I have a question on vacdum sealing - my husband freezes the fish first on a cookie sheet before sealing (he says this keeps the moisture in).... is this really necessary?
    Thanks!

I've heard alot of people do the same thing. They first sprinkle some water or lemon juice on the fillets to get an ice glaze on them and then vacume seal.

I do it just so the moisture doesnt go running back into the sucking chamber on the sealer. It seams like it doesnt get a seal worth a crap when moisture gets back up in there.

The manufacturer recommends that you start the freezing process before you seal them. I believe it is to hold the moisture in and will help keep longer.

Hey MOJON do you know about Cargo Largo in Independence? they are a unclaimed freight retailer.. right now they have some of the food saver vacuum sealers for a little less than you can get them elswhere. i have one of the food saver brand and it seams to work fine.
