Default Weekend trip to Truman. Where to stay besides Bucksaw?

    Hello again,

4 of us plan on taking a weekend crappie fishing trip to Truman. We are wondering if anyone could helps us out on lodging. I started a thread last time, and a few said good things about Bucksaw. None of us have been to Truman before, so we are wondering if there is any other lodging that allows boat rentals besides Bucksaw. Thanks in advance for the help.

Long Shoal, Osage Bluff, and Sterret Creek marinas should all have boat rentals. All have campsites but as far as I know only Bucksaw and Sterret creek have motel style rooms. Bucksaw would be my first choice. Sterret Creek is just outside Warsaw and would be close to the dam. Which would allow some good bank fishing depending on when you are coming down. Let us know before you come down and we will try to point you in the direction of some fish. Might as well just come down for camp on the 15th. Usually some open seats in boats and some great knowledge of Truman to be had.

You might check before you come down but I believe the only marinas that rent boats are at Bucksaw and at State park marina. I agree with Jiggin15 I prefer Bucksaw for the fishing and a good place to stay for the weekend

I have stayed at Uncle Gaby's Cabins they are pretty nice. On Hwy 7 between Bucksaw and Longshoal Marina.

I've used Hickory Hollow Resort in Tightwad. Not a bad place.

When you get to Bucksaw just ask for Richard Bowling, he's the GM there and a crappie guide he'll have good info.

If you are all ready renting a boat. You should spend a little more and rent the red Ranger with Richard in it. He is the best guide on the lake. Hiring a guide the first day of your trip would insure that the next few days will be successfull. I will be fishing on Friday after work and have a trip on the morning of the 18th. I will try to look you all up one of the two days.
