My first quess was meteorite but I don't know how you would tell. Some smart person on here will probablly know.

Most of the lead mines were north of Aurora, however I like the silver idea. Could be the left over silver from the smelting process when pouring bars. (I didn't know that there was a silver mine in this part of the country)

There use to be a lead mine at Diamond Mo. I think, thats not too far away. Not sure but I think that lead and silver is scattered all across the Ozarks. The silver mine was lost back in the early statehood days, if you know of a rock down that way with what looks like a turkey track on it let me know where it's at and I'll tell you the rest of the story.
