Minnekota autopilot with copilot is so nice, sure makes fishing easier. Remote mounted on the jig pole, I can walk all around the boat and fish, and still control the trolling motor. Don't know how I ever fished without it.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Don't forget to add the co-pilot this is what makes minn kota wireless and it's well worth it. Built in transducer is also nice.

I've been using a Minn Kota hand control since having back surgery in 1992. I can't take the torque on my spine that comes with having a foot on the control.

I highly recommend using a Big Foot power switch if you go with a hand control model. The switch is mounted to the casting deck and allows for more hands-free fishing than you might think. At least I've gotten pretty good at it over the years.

I do a lot of casting in my fishing, and with the Big Foot I can keep the motor pointed in the right direction, then tap the foot switch when I need power. Just set the electric to the power level you want and start fishing.

yea they are great . when i used to use a hand control i had 2 bigfoot switches on the front deck. so i could fish out of both sides of the boat. plus if one goes bad you can still get through the day the other. my brother just put 1 switch on his deck. eventually the switch went out. he said i should have listened to you. he later installed 2 new switches.

I've had both, and currently have a foot controlled on an allum 17' bass boat.
From my point of view, I can control the boat better in windy choppy waters with a hand controlled motor. In calm water, the foot controlled works fine.

Had a small bass boat in the 80's with a small motor guide, and when it was windy had a hard time controlling the boat, plus the cables would break often.
Went to a 19' F/S next and had a hand control, which never gave me an ounce of trouble, worked fine. My new boat has a foot control motor guide and so far so good.
