Default The Cattle were up this afternoon and JLT put the whoop on ME!!!

We waited till this afternoon and headed to Stockton, Stopped at the first place and no fish, moved to spot number 2 and bam keeper on,:D 30 seconds later JLT brings in his 1st keeper. Bam, Bam JLT lands 2 more fish. Things are looking up and the next thing I see is big waves and white caps, It is all I can do to keep us off the shore. We move and do not catch a fish, spot number 4 JLT Jr. finally catches his first fish a nice keeper but we do not catch another fish. On to number 5 and we start catching fish again but the majority are short fish. After about 20 more short fish the wind is laying so we return to spot number 2 and start catching keepers mixed with shorts. JLT catches 5 or 6 fish to my 1 and I am NOT handling this well since he is standing next to me. It would have been ok if he was in the back of the boat!:D All in All a good afternoon to be out. We did not set a record but ended up 11 nice keepers that JLT Jr. filleted and JLT and JLT Jr. have by now eaten them for dinner.

All fish were caught over brush piles in 18 to 26 foot of water around Ruark. I used electric chicken and JLT used orange/chart. I used a nibble and JLT was using jig only, JLT Jr. had everything but the kitchen sink on his.

JJ we never saw you but looked, we saw a boat sitting on your spot in Son's and went over to see how you were doing but it wasn't you. I hope the weather stay's stable for the next 4 days. I think things will get good.

We didn't stay in Son's very long - extremely windy and with the wind - wind chill We fished several brush piles but just didn't see any fish on the locator. We fished water from 32 to 18 ft and the only keeper came from 30 ft of water on black/chart. Several dinks. Mrs JJ had black/chart on all day. I tried several other color combo's just couldn't find them....oh well.

Did the wind lay later in the day?

We returned to Mutton Creek but didn't do any better in the afternoon than we had in the morning. Saw another boat in Mutton Creek who said they had been all over the lake and had only 1 keeper for the day. We finally left around 1:30.

Any chance you might be going on Thursday?

Wind calmed down around 4 and by 5 the water was like glass. We got on the fish just before dark but once the sun went down it got cold and we left.

I will be there Thursday if the weather forecast is correct.

Sounds like things are getting tough on Stockton. Mid-lake and upper end any-way. Better luck next time guys. Congrats on your 11.
