i know a couple of you have heard the same thing i have about the crappie population being affected by the big bass kill this past winter. i went out there after work an caught a whopp'n 4... lost 2 more trying to yank them in, and missed a few good thump's:o so for those that fish out there, there are at least 6 crappie left in the lake:o:D beautiful day to get out though. water temp was 62 when i got on the water and 66 when i got off. graphed a ton but could'nt get them to bite. oh well better than get'n skunked i guess. i think the lake is gonna get good real soon:rolleyes: could'nt get a bite by any timber anywho took a picture before i let them go, not cuz i was proud of my big catch but wanted you all to see they look just fine. looked healthy and fought like the dicken's so hopefully there are a bunch more in there cuz i'm head'n back tomorrow:D

Good to see some being caught out of there. My son and I fished ML saturday and didn't get a nibble in 3 hours. Graphed fish everywhere but they would not bite. What's your secret, Jeffie? Where did you find them?

talked to a couple different guy's out there. one being a good buddy with the conservation agent that look's after that lake and they said there was about an 80% bass kill, they netted several bass over 10 lbs and a ton in the 7 lb plus range. they don't think that the virus affected the crappie fishing but the conservation are going to shock the lake when the water warm's up, at least that's what they said.i personally don't think it has affected the crappie. but the bass fisherman said they have fished that lake since it opened up and this was by far the worst year of bass fishing they have ever had. but they also as well said they have picked up some really nice crappie while fishing for bass this year.:D:D:D

Well that is no good, it takes a while to get a fishery to produce fish like that. 10lb bass in missouri is a heck of a fish! I hope that they can bring it back, it is a fine little lake.

Just a side note: When we were out there Saturday, a guy caught a 8 lb bass on a red spinner bait. I had no bass tackle with me or we would have started fishing for them since the crappie refused to bite.
