I don't know how far you are from St. James on I 44 but, Little Prarie Lake there has nice slabs of crappie. Also, Indian Hills here in Cuba, but it's members only so you have to own property there to fish there.
One of my best friends is the MCD agent in St Charles County and works a Bush alot.Originally Posted by jolle

Thanks
I go trout fishing in St James all the time where is this little prarie lake and is it public and what is the HP limit?
I went fishing today at lunch and man are they on fire. They are in the shallows and I could just dip my jig in about 4 feet from the bank and I could see black backs comming to get it. I caught most in about 2 feet of water and probably caught 25-30 fish or more in just my lunch hour. Almost every cast had a hit unless I got moss on my jigs.
Man this is my favorite time of the year...... :p
Good job raintree, wish I could get away at lunch to make a few cast.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will keep me from crappie fishing!
2010 Lake of the Ozarks Super Slab Champion
you got the best job in the world if your able to fish at lunch ..........
Yeah its not bad. I probably shouldn't fish on my lunch cause it causes me to take long lunch's but heck they only bite like this for so long.
I wish I was closer to the lakes I fish but it only takes about 15 min to get there so I can generaly fish for 30min and then drive back. Its a nice break from just typical fast food or cafeteria life.... I will bring a sandwich and head to the lake for a few casts.
Raintree- You caught that many crappie at one of the Busch lakes or a differet spot? I work in Research Park, but don't have the time to get away for too long over lunch- only after work. I went to lake nine the other day and I could see small buck bass herding fry around in the shallows. I could not get them to bite anything I dangled in front of them though.
If you work in research park then you don't have far to go at all then. Your much closer than I am. I work accross the river in Chesterfield Valley (Bottoms) and I can make it to that lake in about 8-10 minutes.
I too have seen those bass on 9, I fish that one often also but never seen a crappie out of there.
No the lake I have been catching them is right next to you. Its that first lake right next too research park and accross the street from the comuter parking lot. Has the Weldon springs sign on the Dam. I Caught 28 today at lunch but the people have caught on . First couple days this week I was all alone but yesterday there was a couple more people. And today there was about 10-15 people there. The first day I was right in front of the parking lot if you follow the path in the grass down to the water right were the Dam starts.
Today I walked down the Dam and fished the brush on the far side of the dam.
I have caught fish there everyday this week so far.
I have been releasing them all of coarse but the people today were keeping them.
Good luck to you Maybe we could meet and fish for lunch if you want.
I drive a Light Green Jeep Wrangler with Conservation plates on it.
I'll keep an eye out for your Jeep and maybe stop in and check out that lake. I did stop once and take a look at it but never fished it. I'm heading down to Truman this weekend and the early part of next week- I hear the crappie were hitting the banks, but the weather doesn't look good as of late.
