Could have been worse- a buddy gave me a stainless prop (22" pitch) years ago I've been keeping as a spare, so all I got to do is buy an aluminum for a spare (or another SS if the price is right). I did buy a McGard locking prop nut system while I was at BPS though. I should have bought one, say about 2 weeks ago! It does make me wonder about my gear I like to keep in the boat during the summer though...
You guys should look into a composite prop for spares. A very inexpensive way to go for a backup. I know a few guys who run them all the time on Truman. If they tear one up they are only out $60 to $80. I have heard they will break off without hurting lower unit also.
I've seen those. When selecting the pitch on a composit, do you use the same number as an aluminum would be? I think a lot of people use one inch lower in pitch for aluminum, compared to a SS prop. (or is it vice versa?)
