Where he screwed up is he should have flicked and not rolled.
Rolling takes too much time but a quick flick might have been classier... lol
It reminds me of a classic Seinfeld episode when that lady caught Jerry "picking" at the stoplight.

my old slow computer just couldn't download the link you posted, but I did find a couple fishing pages I could look at.. they had some good stories on Crappie fishing.
