    Talking Hand held GPS

Hey Guys, I've been told by Beagle to get a hand held GPS. I have a boat mounted one, but that doesn't help if your in someone else's boat. I need to know what brand and model number that you Guys recomend that will record and hold a number of different sites. Thanks in advance. Ship

I have a Garmin Etrex Legend and like it so far. Its user friendly or I would be in big trouble. Its not the most expensive one out there but for the money I think its a great little unit. It has the ability to store all the waypoints a person would need.

I've had an e-trex legend for a few years now and it works well for me.

I have a Garmin 76 that's a good machine, but not as user friendly as the E-TREX. If I had it to do over again i would bo E-TREX.

I have a Garmin e-trex Legend Cx also. I love it. Don't have any experience with other GPS's but I'm a electronic nut and I have no complaints. Ive noticed everytime Bass Pros ad comes out they are a little cheaper too.

P.s. In "Cx" the "C" stands for Color (which is a must) and the "x" stands for "X-tra memory and that is DEFINATLY a must. If you only get the Legend C and not the Cx you will regret it because there wont be enough room for all the maps you want in it.

So just to recap to help you disypher this...
    Garmin makes the:
    ETrex Legend (not color)
eTrex Legend C (color)-which I think is discontinued now
eTrex Legend Cx (color with a 64MB removable/upgradeable Micro SD card- 40 more MB's than the Legend C)<<<<this is the one you want if you want a handheld GPS

I have a lowrance H20.Most of my buddys have lowrance also except Bugman Love it.
You should read up on them.
It all depends on what you want it to do. If you want to use it other than the water you will need to research those feature.

    Default I bought ONE

I've been on E-bay and manufactures sites since I listed this post trying to get educated. I'm probably more stupid now than when I started. Anyway I got a Etrex legend HCX with a one gig memory chip. I spent around a hundred more than I thought I was going to do but wanted just to do this once. (paid $229 for everthing to include the 1 gig memory, the computer hook up and all the software and case) This was just about $100 more than the C model.

Everyone's input on this was very helpful, it made me think of things that I would never have thought of! (beer factor)

    Thanks Guys for the help!!!
