Keffer wanted to know who else posts reports of no success well here goes. 5 years ago before covid and my quadruple bypass I had the most fabulous turkey hunting ever including youth season where I called in Tom's to my ute and had them all around us. Even tho he didn't shoot one because it came in different from where I was pointing to several jakes approaching, he was bathed in light and looked so translucent and beautiful kid didn't know what the heck it was all boomed out like that.

anyway after they left and had gotten them into spawning crappie in crazy way where he was flinging crappie in shallow water back to his dad on the shore. Not much going on in my main place to hunt till last weekend when they came back and then it got insane! Could see 8 tom groups with hens as things were late. When I went down to where they were had mad gobbling all around and killed a bigun on one piece of land in the hills. then next morning killed another and then had 6 tom and jakes come running up to attack flopping dead tom. Crazy!

with all those toms and hens then you would expect next few years would be full of turkeys but you would be wrong. Population plummetted for some reason and I was hesitant because I couldn't get around well healthwise and too cautious but there was some gobbling where they should be. But this season? Hardly any gobbling at all and when I did hear it was way off on private land. No turkeys in fields where there normally is and it was very discouraging and days I could hunt came at dawn with thunder, lightning and rain.

So tho I was out all three weeks ready to go, turns out is was the Thump that was crazy good so that's what I did and KABOOM happened there till this week when lakes were flooded and chocolate water awful.

So that's my bad report Bill. All this no success with Turkey hunting which used to be my main thing and my sons crews success at harvesting deer has led to me concentrating on the Thump which I have gotten much better at with all my terrific mentors showing me how to getrdone and having access to some excellent fishing areas.
