Default Bad weather but great results

Woke up early determined to actually chase turkeys this morning. Had my coffee made it to first place before dawn ready to rock and then lightning and thunderstorm rolled in. Usually that can get birds gobbling big time bit not today. Downpour came and I went back.

Crew was up by then ready to fish after terrific bite yesterday. Get to lake and KABOOM happened, again. They were just off bank and we started whacking them. Bo headed back to my honeyhole and he got into them bigly as they came out of vegetation attacking his jigs.

Minnow boy was doing well and I was really getting them by dragging my jig back and forth in different depths. Color didn't matter much but size did as the 32nds were better than even 16ths.

I went back above riprap trying to do what I was so successful yesterday but wind was fierce and apparently drove them off bank so went back to shore.

We were just standing on shore casting and retrieving. Nothing special.

I had my limit first so I helped a couple of folks who were struggling showing where and how to and what to use. They started ketchn and that's always a good feeling.

My buds finished and tho we were going to stay another night we were all beat and decided to head home. Besides I was having a fish fry for my church groups monthly dinner.

I called a neighbor and he was happy to come by and pick up my ketch. Brought me dozen duck eggs from his flock. Guys took most of the filets with them.Name: 20240416_104838.jpg

If crappie could gobble I'd love 'em even more.

I would be a better fisherman if spring turkey hunting didn't keep me off the lake so much.

That's what I liked about the spring time. you could only hunt half a day for turkey then spend rest of it ketchn Krappie! But now I didn't even go deer hunting as I had taught my son and his crew how to getrdone and they were whacking plenty so I spent all my time ketch and gabbing with folks at the lake about it.

now it's similar with turkey, I WANT to go but population is down and not a lot of gobbling to get you motivated. Doesn't take much for me to fart off hunting and head to the Lake.

Another great adventure and you were even rewarded. I've never had duck eggs, at least I don't think I have?
