Default Better fish but slow morning

Went back to open water early and only couple guys there before me. Hadn't had bite they say and on first drop KABOOM happened and it was big un. My buddy had warned me to go to bottom then up a crank, I did and thought I was hung up till it started moving. Then I hit another big one same deal no thump it was just there. Then another big one BAM all from close area.

Course those other guys were giving me that look of what the heck. I noticed they were fishing 6 to eight feet and I was couple feet lower. Getting the word from your network sure helps. Using white and chartreuse maribou 16th jigs and they were using plastics.

Plus I had Slab sauce on which works especially well IMO WITH maribou jigs.

Moved a few times as it was really slow and the one guy picked up a couple working one brush pile but lost bunch jigs. I hit a similar depth area a few feet away and picked up 3 more fairly quickly then nada for an hour or so.

Later guys left area and I moved to where I saw he was getting hung up in brush and fished edge of it and picked up a couple more good ones. Had switched to 32nd with pink head and monkey milk for several. Then final couple on chartreuse jig for last couple. Ended with 8. Four were pushing 12 inches and all nice ones.

Nice to get some crappie in the sink and a few bags for freezer and meals.

Supposedly to be warm enough to finally get ice off lakes and back to ketchn.Name: 20240201_114643.jpg

Nice mess of cold water crappie. Tried to crappie fish Thursday but lake was still 75% frozen except the shallows. Went trout fishing at Suson and had a blast and caught 18 trout in the first hour and over 25 in 2.5 hours. Certainly a great day to be outside.

I've got some of that slab sauce. I'll make sure to give it a try.
