Default Broke the dry spell and broke in the new yak.

Took off this morning around 30 degrees, water 47. Much to my surprise, I was late the party. Thought everyone would be deer hunting.
I launched the kayak at Pretty Bob. It was a little breezy but manageable. I set the yak up for spider rigging. With the gentle waves from the wind it makes the long poles dance like crazy. No bites until I got back in the cove and calmer water.
I wasn't finding any crappie in the open. As I was getting more comfortable navigating and controlling my speed I worked into the timber.
I watched a guide put a couple limits in his boat near me. He was live scoping and running 1 single pole and killing it! Which kind of killed me since my boat with all the toys including live scope was just sitting at home all cozy and warm.
But I wasn't out there for that. I wanted to get familiar with the kayak and have a peaceful day.
By mid day I had pretty good control but had to dip the trees. 1/2 oz double hook setup get's it done, but not advisable. I should have put the long poles away and set up some jigs, but I'm stubborn.
Finally had enough fun, brought home 7.

Minnows. I'm still not comfortable with jigs, but I'm getting there.

Nice job! Gave my yak to my daughter when we moved, might get another one someday. They are fun to fish out of.
