    Default Breakdown KABOOM

Went thru my normal routine wake up at daylight, drink coffee, get on my computer and then made eggs. Then get into my trusty 05 accord to go gather Intel grom my guys who are fishing. Stop one has half limit, ketchn steady with nice 9 and half or so eaters. Check.

Stop two my buddy has similar ketch and size fishing in similar spot on bank. Check.

Then it's GO TIME for me to start my ketchn. Go to turnaround in drive way, put in reverse and KABOOM all heck breaks lose with awful noises and car won't go. Stops right on hiway and tried to put in park and God awful racket ensues. Uh oh I'm in a tight spot sitting right on road. Then take deep breath, assess options and call my good fishing buddy who just had taken over a repair shop. Bring it in he says so I whip out my AAA card and ho thru process. Toon 20 minutes to get coordinated as I'm out in country but says guy will come but 40 miles away so will take time.

Hmm reviewing situation on light traveled road, have flashers on and few vehicles will be by. Plus there is a lake right down the hill. Best solution? Go FISHING! I CAN SEE MY CAR so why not?

On first cast I ketch bigger fish than all the many fish I caught afternoon before! Then another decent one. Then truck arrives, go to town 12 miles away to buddies shop and thinking it's transmission and its going to be expensive so might have to retire my beloved fishing car.

BTW my son had just had his truck flat bedded to same place from STL hour before and now I come from opposite direction with mine on flatbed. What are the odds.

Rest of the story is buddy calls and says it was broken front axle part and should have it by end of day! Absolute miracle! Plus buddy Charlie will come this afternoon, we will go ketch bunchbo fish then pick-up my car!

Yes I am the luckiest guy around. Had so many offers of cars to use and guys willing to drive from STL to pick me up. Truly blessed. Attachment 472563Name: 20231010_092034.jpg

Sorry for the bad luck, happy for your good luck. The fishing is a bonus and a nice good KABOOM too.

Glad it wasn’t more serious and a lake to sling a couple of Slabs! Thanks for sharing your experience

For the rest of the story. Buddy had it fixed quickly with enough time to hit my spot and KABOOM to happen in the right way.

Then neighbor came by to check on me and took the fish! Best ending to a trying day.Name: 20231010_173226.jpg

Now if it were me. I would have had no cell service. Would have to walk 2 miles uphill to get service. AAA would be 4 hrs. minimum. All friends working or in no service areas. Shop would tell me two weeks and and transmission is out. And when I get back to vehicle it would have been broken into and all my fishing gear stolen! Glad it was you and turned out fine.
