Been out of town for a few days. Went down to Bardstown, Kentucky to sample some of their finest and bring back a bunch.

Off work the whole week so after getting back in town I hit Smithville to try to give the walleye another whirl and see if the crappie could figure out their summer pattern.

Tuesday I was on the water by 7a. Trolled cranks on main lake points. No walleye. One decent white bass. One pathetic little channel cat. And a whole bunch of KeeferCrappie. Just little 8" or 8˝" fish. I think there was a (maybe??) 10" in there somewhere, but...no fish were kept.

Went back this morning. Again, on by about 7a. Tried walleye in earnest. No joy. Went back to trolling cranks only this time over in Crow's Creek. No off-topic fish. Just crappie today, and some better fish. Not crushing the numbers yet, but found a couple barely legal and three decent ones. Lost another real nice one.

Might have to try it again a time or two before having to go back to work next week!
