Truman
Changing things up next year and looking to plan a trip to either Truman or Mark Twain? Have went to KY Lake for nearly 15 years, but Asian carp has ruined crappie fishing. What’s the better of the 2 Lakes? Looking for quality as well as quantity. Thanks for anything you care to share!
Truman
I fish both, Truman has better quantity and quality most days. Both are very hard on boats, lots of standing timber and stumps and they are muddy color hard to see. I hate them both, but fish them quite often. Mark Twain needs a length limit, those guys are fish hungry.
I'm with Griz, MT has just too many drawbacks. Give me Truman. That is a long haul for me but you could fish all summer and not have to fish the same spots twice. Strett Creek Marina for lodging and anything else one might need.

I agree about Truman although what I know of Mark Twain is hearsay. If you are looking at the span consider the first weekend in May at Bucksaw. That is the traditional date for spring camp. Feel free to PM me if you want to get a little more specific. I’m retired now and only work 2 days a week. Be glad to hook up for a ride through.

Both are really good lakes with MT being so close to stl and ne mo fisherfolk you can have great days fishing there. since I have places to stay there and friends I fish with it's preferable.
But Truman is hands down better lake for quality of ketch and you should experience it. has several excellent guides who are reasonable to give you a jump start fishing there. Plus several outstanding CDC members who will help you out with tips.
Absolutely try and make the spring camp first weekend in May at Bucksaw. Good time had by all, lot of CDC folks and their spouses and have hit the spawn there for crazy good fishing couple of times.

LOZ is my choice, very good crappie Lake, just avoid the lice. Spring is usually lice free. Kentucky lake is bad news, 7 years ago I though it would eventually do that lake in.
