Following myself. Been going to Crappie Camp for years and always want to try a fall trip but never have. I have fished it in December a few times.
Contemplating a fall trip too Truman when would a good a good time frame be, if we decide to make the trip?
After making my first ever Crappie Camp already making plans for next spring. Hopefully the weather will be a tad bit more agreeable.

I could give a really long answer on this question, but my favorite time to fish Truman in the fall is late October to early November. By that time, both the air and water temps are significantly cooler which brings the fish up in the water column. They are still found on trees in the flats as well as timber at the mouth of creeks. Typically in 12-20 FOW, 6-12 feet down. I do think fish are harder to find since they are moving back to the creeks at this time, but they are hungry and you can catch nearly ever fish you drop on. Once you find where they are, you can fish a 100 yard stretch and catch 100+ fish, turnaround, and go right back at them. Finding that 100 yard stretch is key. Minnows won't be required (Black and chartreuse plastics, hint hint.....) and boat traffic will be a minimum which is always a plus, too.
October, or September I have fished it then, quarry, otter creek, Hate spring crappie fishing, fall and winter are good to me. so go for it you will be happy

We overhauled them one year on Thanksgiving Day 2006. 5 to 10 down in 20 foot of water. All tree tops with Bobby G plastics in bluegrass color. Great lake late fall.
I am surprised we don't have a fall gathering. I always like the fall weather is usually stable fish cooperate. My group used to try spring fishing camp on Mark twain lake got so tired of chocolate brown water and heavy rains we switched on a August/September trip and it was great. While it lasted now we no longer go.

Mark Twain is another fishery that is fantastic fishing and beautiful in the fall. Seems to be my favorite time of year yet I don't, go enough. So many things to do from walleye to pan fish all over the central mid west.
Stay away, it's cold and the fishing sucks! LoL
End of Oct - Apr is my favorite time of year to fish Truman.
