    Default Quick trip

After rain and recovery from heat stroke which took couple weeks right in middle of spawn finally had a couple days of perfect weather and no Papa daycare. As they went to FL. So I beat it up to see if the lake which had incredible late spawn last season might b turning on this year.

Went directly to Charlie's place as it is on same road and only come minutes from ramp. We put in got to bank and BOOM as the Outlaw says and it was on! Pitched jig against rocks came back and THUMP one black male after another was lifted into boat. ONLY problem was they were bugeyes! You know those 5 to 7 inchers that are so much fun and aggressive but NOT those slabs we were ketchn last year. Good to know they r reproducing well but NOT the targeted year classes we were expecting like last year where all members of our group 5 had PB biguns from 2 to 3 lbs.

Not sure if the bugeyes there means we missed the main spawn or as Karen carpenter sang " It's only just begun". Admit it that songs stuck in your head. It's late in year but Charlie will keep checking and send up the bat signal if the slabs come in.

Did pick up 4 keepers there and Charlie kept those for supper.

I went to my place cut grass, worked on leak in roof and hit t hill to dip a jig and see what's up there. Had the Jeff city crew in and they were on my favorite hole pretty hard but had great time ketchn up w them and did manage 4 keepers.

One of the JC guys with a 12 foot pole was on a pier a few feet from me had big hookup he thought was snag turned into a pound plus crappie that came flying by me while he was facing setting sun and had no idea where it went nut I grabbed his line and landed it. Then we argued go9d natured about whose fish it was since I actually caught it. After some laughs he put it in his bucket. Only 1 he caught then but they had a dozen from earlier.

Next morning went out early and had good morning BSing with couple local friends and drinking coffee. Did end up with good bucket o nice ones and a good eater 2 lb kitty. Then time to head back after 2 perfect weather days.

Did go back for dip and picked up 2 more.

After getting home dropped a bag o FRESH filets to my son in law about to go biking. He had them short time ago after his ride and sent this.Name: 20220602_202211.jpg

good two weeks to get back to normal as just felt weak. But fine now but it was good lesson on hydrating and wearing my floppy hat.

    Now that's how it's done...good job
If we did what was most important in life there
would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles
