    Default Still on the banks

My buddy Doug had been doing maintenance on his place on MTL and hasn't been out fishing and NEEDED a crappie fix so he came to my place and we got to work. He is part of the minnow boy crew and no one had any on his short trip to the mound so he was freaking. Drug him to the lake and danged if he didn't ketch the 2 biggest of the morning. Gale force wind blowing so we stopped and I used it to ketch up on mowing and other stuff. But made mistake of mentioning that Shane Wyatt near Moberly would probably have some about half hour ride so here we go.

After returning we hit the gravel area and did real well. I caught bunch w my jig but he did good with his minnows. Ended w 24 good eaters.

Went out next morning with the other minnow crew member trying a different lake to see spawn was starting there in his small boat. No dice but did ketch big wiper and Doug a kitty.

Doug caught 3 more before he had to head out. Daughter having identical twin boys today. He took all the filets w him so he scratched that itch for a while.

I went back and was able to find rip rap and using bobber and 6 inches of line had my limit quickly. Lots o males w tuxes on but a few females.

BTW in going to another spot thru woods I did stumble upon some nice morels so really good couple days.Name: 20220509_135227.jpg

I am very lucky as I have multiple good sized lakes within short distance of my cabin. Went to one with nice shoreline to fish on. Noticed young couple with two boys moving from place to place but with empty baskets. Finally caught on decent crappie. As I had caught 4 really nice ones I went to the dad and offered them to him. Said they ketch catfish but havnt had crappie in years. Asked me for advice and showed him how to do it better. They were all ears and makes u feel good that u can really make someone's day and hopefully help those boys be more successful.
