    Default Dock Shooting

After viewing several videos and read about the successes of fisherman here and on FB, I've decided that this year I'm going to take dock shooting more seriously and get some proper tools. I've ordered a B'n'M Sharpshooter Six for the rod, will pair that with a Pflueger President 25. Would like some input on line. I prefer braid on a spinning rod but am open to opinions. Braid? Mono? Fluorocarbon? TIA!

I personally prefer Power Pro Slick 8 in either 8lbs 1 pound Diameter or the 10/2. I also like it in Moonshine color. I have some that is 4 or 5 seasons old and still going strong. It does take some use for it to break in and shoot really well. That Pflueger will pair well with the B&M rod. I several on different shooting rods

Good choice on the rod and reel !
it just hard to beat Berkley solar green mono . It’s kinda hard to find but it’s the best mono their is in my book for shooting docks . I have bought many brands that suppose to be top notch but I threw them in the trash for one reason or the other. Would name them but some folks would be offended so I’ll pass .
braid is very sensitive has its place but I absolutely hate it on everything except vertical jigging .
I also have good results with Vicious line and I use it quite a bit but if your around a lot of objects I’d go with the Berkley Trilene in solar green!

good choice on equipment and use vicious and mr crappie hi vis in 8 and 6 lb myself for most crappie aplications and looking for the 4.

for trout my friend who ketch's more than anyone uses 2 lb mono but I just have too hard a time seeing and tying it, so I go 4lb camo line or 6 lb stren.

I like braid, but I stay far away from it when dock shooting. I prefer to use a lightweight hi-vis mono. I can see the line twitch just fine when the bite is light. The first time I get hung up on a lift or a cable, I'm always glad I'm able to break off instead of having to cut braid and leave a whole strand of it in the lake.

Never considered having to leave behind a strand behind! Thanks! Around a dock that could lead to some bad consequences.

Should not have to leave anything behind when getting snagged with braid, if I have a shirt on I will wrap the braid around my arm and pull and usually it breaks or bends the hook straight. Or use a short 6 inch dowel and wrap the line around the dowel and pull either way will not normally leave any line in the water. How many times I have pulled up mono that some one else has snagged up using mono and my braid has been strong enough to pull the bait out of the snag.

Only time I leave any behind is when it gets cut on a piece of metal on a floating dock. Most of the time I bend out the hook. I have pulled the hook out of the lead head. Name: 20211126_173337.jpg

Hung in the crack of a cross brace. When I set out to break it off. This is what came back to the boat
